The European Board of Ophthalmology Residency Exchange Programme, Year 2010
The European Board of Ophthalmology aims to guarantee the highest standards of care in the field of ophthalmology in countries of the European Union by ensuring that the training of ophthalmologists is
raised to the highest possible level. As a practical effort towards that aim, EBO has an Exchange Programme
for residents, teachers and chairmen/programme directors of University Eye Clinics to visit EBO-approved teaching centres.
The programme for year 2010 is open for 40 residents, 10 teachers (staff members) and
10 chairmen/programme directors from the University teaching centres, upon approval and
recommendation by the local Chair/University Administration, to visit one of the following
EBO-certified institutions.

The period of exchange is one month for residents, two weeks for teachers and 3-4 days for chairmen/programme directors. The application form for 2010 grants can be obtained as of
October 1st, 2009. The chosen resident will receive from EBO an honorarium of 1000 euro, and the teachers/chairmen/programme directors of 500 euro, to compensate for travel expenses. He/she will be
expected to cover any additional expenses or to negotiate them with their home chairperson.
The Board requests a short written report of the exchange.
