Eligibility & Fee
Anyone who is a certified Specialist in Ophthalmology in a country of the European Union, Norway, Switzerland,
Croatia and Turkey, is eligible to sit the EBOD Examination, on condition that this eligibility is confirmed during
the application process by the relevant EBO National Delegate from the country of the applicant’s training.
Successful candidate will be handed the certificate granting them the title of Fellow of European Board of
Ophthalmology (FEBO).
It is also possible to sit the examination during the last year of residency, after 4 years of training in the UK, or after additional formal training in countries listed above in the case that the title of specialist was obtained in other countries as listed above and upon approval by the Head of Department and one of the two EBO National Delegates from the country of training of the candidate. In such cases a temporary certificate will be handed out to those who successfully passed the EBO exam. After the candidates also become Specialist in the country through which they applied and present to the EBO a certified copy of a document confirming registration as a specialist in this country, they will then receive their FEBO diploma from the EBO National Delegate of their country of certification and are then entitled to call themselves Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).
Fee for the 2011 EBOD examination is 400 euro and must be paid in advance when the Application Form is submitted. This fee can be paid by credit card of bank transfer (to the bank details below).
The fee covers the expenses of organising the EBOD examination, and it is not refundable if the Candidate
does not attend the examination or pass it.
